Are These parts interchangeable?

Is a 1964 Johnson 6hp Part #13 on Gear Case parts its called "HOUSING AND RETAINER ASSY. " be interchange with 1979 Jhonson seahorse 6hp they look exactly the same on the diagram heres a link to the oldest Johnson outboard parts brake down on the web for the first link

The look the same so i asume that it will work right????? Thats part # 13 in gear case

Try marineengine.com in order to compare part #s. They have diagrams back to the '50s.

k thanx guys thats will help big time now that i can take a look at a 64 brake down thanx aging guys wouldnt know what to do without the help my first year with a boat and outboard im a ski doo guy haha

K guys so i cheack part numbers and they are interchangeable i wouldnt never know if it wasnt for that web site thanx for the info its now my new favorite parts brake down for my outboard
