1974 Evinrude tiller repair

I have a 1974 9.9 with a hand tiller. The throttle shaft that connects the handle to the shaft entering the engine housing has sheared off where the screw from the handle goes through it. It has a pinion gear on one end and then a flattened out ection with a threaded hole through it to attach the handle to the shaft. Where can I get a replacement shaft? I have searched several websites but have not yet found a place to purchase such a part. Thanks to anyone who can help me find this shaft.

go to marineengine.com..find your year, hp, model no....go to exhaust housing diagrams...I think it will show the piece you are describing, then you can contact some salvage yards listed under the Top Secret Files...or buy a new one

I believe they have them ,but they are expensive. You can also look at http://stores.ebay.com/Bobs-Outboards-Etc?_rdc=1 this guy has several used and NOS AND NLA PARTS and he is reasonable and very fast shipping

Awesome guys, thanks. I am will need to measure the length and count the teeth on the gear and then I can order it.
