1978 evinrude 150 control fell apart, now i cant get it to go into reverse

my controler on my 1978 invader with a evinrude 150 inline six outboard fell apart, i put it back together the best that i knew how, but no it will not shift into reverse, does anyone have any pics or diagrams of the evinrude power play controller that i can see? i can get it to go into foreward, but it grinds as i am putting it in any one have any suggestions?

Not sure just what engine/control box you have. The 1978 Evinrude 150 was a V6 engine. Can you post the model number of the engine you are working on?

yes you are right it does have a v6 its a 2 stroke, the control is a power pilot attached are some pics

You may find the factory parts lists helpful. They are exploded diagrams. On the web at: epc.brp.com. If that is not enough, you may want to purchase an original factory service manual from: outboardbooks.com

I know this is an old thread but I am trying to find out how to reinstall the ball bearing/spring assembly for the shift lever in this exact same unit.

I also have a 1977 Invader Aquarius bowrider with the V6 150. Was removing from boat to remove cap and bearing fell out. Cannot figure out how to get it back in place. I have the schematic, but that only show me where it goes.

Any suggestions?
