Throttle Valve Postion.

Hello,

I am in the process of cleaning carb and noticed that the throttle valve is not fully opened(just like 150 degree) when the choke valve is fully closed. Is it supposed to be 180 degree(to allow max fuel/air to enter intake) during a cold start and/or when the throttle handle is turned to max position allowed?

Thanks,
Andrew

Normally, when you choke it, the throttle valve is mechanically opened to around 1/4 to 1/3 throttle, so yours sounds normal. Just make sure that it's fully open when the motor is in forward gear and throttle handle advanced fully. Search 'link/sync' in this forum for much more detailed info.

Sorry for forgetting mentioning those info. I thought it is common to all models.

Mine is Evinrude 1968 18hp 18802M.

Thanks a lot for everyone's help!

Andrew
