Lower Unit on 1976 55 hp Evinrude model 55673E

[Chunk-a-Dunk]

I am working on a 1976 55hp Evinrude model 55673E and I am having problems removing the lower unit. I have removed all of the bolts and lower unit has split apart but I need some advise on how to disconnect the linkages so that the lower unit will come off. Any advise is greatly appreciated.

I have the service manual for the 76' 55hp motors(there were four). I have not removed my lower unit (yet) so I can offer little help directly, but if you need I can take the book to work and scan the removal into a file and email if that helps. The book itself is too big to scan the whole thing but I will scan the removal pages. These books are a great investment let me tell you. Get one when you can.
