Help with a 1952-53 Johnson Seahorse TN28

Hi, i recently bought a Johnson Seahorse TN28 5hp. i have found out that the coils need to be replaces because i found one was cracked. where can i find these coils? if you have any information i would really appreciate it. Thanks

584477 is the coil for a 1955 model. I think the same coil was used on most systems of that type. Take yours to a local dealer and compare them.

Thanks i will use that number. Does napa or one of those stores carry most of these parts?

You can get them at the NAPA stores around here, they will have an after market brand called sierra. 18-5181 should be the number you need.

Well thank you very much. i got the motor running today. Before i looked for the coils i made sure all connections were good. found out the reason one of my spark plugs didn't fire was because the wire going from the magneto to the plug had a poor connection. just cut about a half inch off and reconnected. Put it in a barrel and it fired right up.

Just wanted to say I red your advise on JW10 in comparision to the 55 coil, awesome going to the parts store right now! Ive bin try trying to find a cross reference # to my 580118 coil !!!!

Yep, the same coil will work in your TN as the JW model.
