I have a 1975 Johnson 25 hp. It has both an electrical start system and a manual pull rope. The electrical wiring from the motor to the key has rotten out and I cannot replace it at this moment. I can still start the motor with the pull start but I cannot turn the motor off because the key not attached. Any ideas?

You can wire in a kill switch or just choke it off.

Thanks. I have tried to use the choke to kill the motor but all it does is run the motor at higher rpm's but it doesn't shut off. But the kill switch is a good idea.

Look at the schematic, unhook the coil wires at the connectors and connect each one to a side of a push button switch. When you push the switch it will short the coils together and kill the engine.
