I have a johnson 88 and it ran fine all day but I noticed the water pump indicator stream nozzle fell off. Now there is just a gray fastner and a clip where the on the inside of the housing where the nozzle was. I positioned the gray fastner piece where the water should come out but it only drips water even at full speed. The water pressure gauge is at 15 at full speed. I hooked it up to my hose and water comes out on the lower unit where it should but still no stream. Can I just buy a new nozzle and try to put it on myself? or should I go to the mechanic?

Replacing that nozzle should be an easy task for you. If you don't get a stream of water out of the telltale hose, is may be plugged with debris. A fairly common problem. You can clear the hose out with some trimmer string from a yard trimmer. Or pressurize it with a blast of air from your air compressor-that should clear the hose.
