71 evinrude sportster 25 water stream

have been running my 71 25hp in a barrel noticed no water coming out of top of engine is this normal could of sworn previous years there was stream of water coming out just below motor on right side my son said it never has had water shooting a stream i know i had pump replaced last spring but i just cant remember if it peed water could pump be bad already only ran couple of times last year

My 72 25 sportster doesn't have a water stream. It exists through the exhaust in the mid section. Your outboard should do the same. Mid way down where the exhaust exits is where the water does when its pumping. Mine does this from about 2 seconds after I start it till its shut down.
