pistons/ crank 1972 6hp johnson

i decided to take it all apart im at the pistons removing them for inspection wat r these tiny like looking nails that r around the mount 4 piston to crank should they b here

:facepalm:sounds like the needle bearings......and yes they HAVE to be there! if even one of those "tiny like looking nails" are missing....it aint gunna be good!

i just looked at book yes they should b there is there an easy way to reassemble

can i move them on piston to make sure they r not frozen

if you have it apart to that degree, id look into new bearings, dont remove the rings unless you can get new/or plan to replace. you should be able to move the rings slightly, a small amount ..very small rotationally, and be able to compress them a small amount also.

if you'll go to YouTube and search ...rebuilding an outboard motor...I think you'll find it beneficial
