I replaced the seals in the lower unit. Putting back together now. Which way does the prop shaft turn so I point the impeller blades in right direction? Also, how do I know prop shaft is engaged with the lower unit gears? Getting it apart was easy. Any help is appreciated

You mean the driveshaft? Looking down on the lower unit, the driveshaft turns clockwise. If put back together properly, the propshaft will turn when you turn the driveshaft.

yup. flywheel should spin clockwise causing the drive shaft clockwise so the prop shaft and prop can turn clockwise while in FWD gear. Prop will spin counterclockwise when flywheel is turned clockwise when in REV.

That little 3hp motor is a direct drive with only forward gear.

go to boats.net and look up a 3hp from '68. Same basic weedless gearcase. You can see the parts breakdown/orientation. Good luck!
