Just revived my new to me 1984 Johnson 70, everything is working great except for the fact that it randomly will blow the main fuse near the red plug on the motor after running it in the driveway for a few minutes... Seems to be when it is warm/hot.

What's weird is that right after it does it, you can replace it and it will blow again when you turn the ignition back on, but if you let it cool off and try again a few minutes later it will work again for a little while... I've looked at all of my connections, and traced the harness and can't find any wires that are shorting.

I've got my gauges hooked up to the ign hot wire (purple) coming out of the tach harness and I unplugged it when it did it this last time with no change, so I don't think that harness is the problem.

I also disconnected my primer solenoid thinking that it might be shorted out inside but that seemed to have no effect either. Main engine ground is tight...

I'm all out of ideas,

Hopefully someone will have been through this and have somewhere to point me.

Thanks,
