Loss of power beyond idle speed--1982 35HP Evinrude

Have a 1982 Evinrude 35 HP motor that chokes down and tries to die upon acceleration. Idles fine in and out of water.....revs fine with water ears on. But under load it gives a brief surge and chokes out. Replaced plugs and adjusted linkages. Any further info would be great.

Does pumping the primer bulb constantly help? Could also be plugged high speed jets.

Have you done a cylinder drop test on it to see of it's running on both cyls??
