1997 Evinrude Intruder 115 tach reg./rectifier problem

Can anyone tell me if this motor has a water cooled regulater/rectifier? I was having trouble with my tach not working and i saw a previous answer about tying the gray tach wire into the yellow/gray wire at the rear of the motor. Can i do this with my motor? (1997 EVINRUDE 115 INTRUDER)
