1976 Evinrude 55 HP water pump o ring and gromet

Changed the water pump assembly and have a Grommet with a notch and o ring left
Diagram shows o ring goes on top of gromet but what is grommet for or where does it go

Grommet is for the water tube coming out of impeller housing. Not sure on O-ring? will check it out!
O-RING,Seal housing. Goes underneath impeller housing.

The o ring is for the top of the driveshaft, beneath the splines. Do not forget to replace this or you may have trouble dropping your gearcase the next time. A bit of marine grease on the splines in needed as well. As mentioned, the grommet is for the water line. Be careful not to pinch the grommet with the water line when lining the gearcase back up or you will have no water flow. Great motor, I have the same one.

Thanks for the help there was a grove in the shaft and the grommet I set on top of water pump housing
