Evinrude Mate Question

I have the same engine. It ran fine last year and now I can't get the engine to start. I have changed the fuel, cleaned the carb and changed the plug to a Champion J4C. The manual calls for a Champion J4J plug but the guy at the parts place said I could use a Champion J4C. Could it be the plug or does it sound like something else?

You need three things to make it run.

1. Compression.

2. Spark.

3. Fuel.

You're missing one or more.

Define "cleaned carburetor".
