Hi, I just painstakingly torn down and repainted a small Evinrude 6hp. I used BRP touch up paint P/N 777174 The motor look nice. I want to clear-coat it. I'm scared of paint re-action. I have 3 test plates i made and the first one bubble up using acrylic lacquer. What should I try next clear polyurethane? Thanks, any help appreciated.

The paint is talking to you, but I don't think you're listening....

Well with the time and effort you obviously put in to the paint job so far, why risk it.
You obviously are a diligent craftsman since you had the smarts to prep some test plates.
My advice would be to talk to some paint shops and get their specialised knowledge if you want to try that third plate....

Thanks Tim, I'm going to take your advice and leave it alone, it looks pretty decent. My decal kit should show up any day and hopefully it will be cured enough to deal with their installation.......Robert

If you don't mind me asking, where did you find a decal kit for the 93 Evinrude? I just picked one up and am in the process of doing the same thing you did, teardown, cleanup and repaint. I could not find a decal kit, but if I could, it would just make the entire end product that much better!!!! Thanks!!

You need to give it a couple of weeks or more until you clear it. If you don't even clear that is compatible won't go on without blistering. Wait until it cures. Talking to an auto paint shop is super good advice.
