I'm trying to restore my grandfathers Johnson model 100, a 1.7 hp trolling motor. It has good compression, and spark. Can someone tell me how to start it? Where should I set the carb and advance lever? How much oil should I mix in? Any other tips would be appreciated. Thanks!

Oh cool. I had an Evinrude the same year once. Mix it at 16:1 (8 ounces per gallon) I'm not sure about the carb and stuff though, because it was quite a bit different in design than the 1937 Evinrude Sportsman 1.6hp. It was shortly before that, that OMC acquired Johnson, so the two were built quite a lot different. But the mix is a good rule to follow.

Oh yea, you can get an owners manual at the Ken Cook Company for your motor.:)
