I have a blown piston and cracked cylinder in my 1996 Evinrude 112 SPL . If I was to remove the power head can this cylinder be replaced or sleeved. It is definitely cracked you can see it as clear as day. If so how would I find a shop that does this type of work. I am a relatively new boat owner and never had such a repair needed.

If the block isn't cracked, it can usually be resleeved. MarFab in TN is a good marine machine shop, which does this kind of work.

Thanks for the response. I dont believe the block is cracked but I wouldn't be suprised if it is. I will check again more closely. I live in Boston MA so I was wondering if anyone knows some one close to boston. Sorry I should have mentioned that in earlier thread.

You're probably going to have to ship it to get a good marine OB shop.
