The throttle cable on my 96 Johnson 15HP motor broke and I can't get it off. I have taken the plate off the bottom of the handle but I can't get the twist grip off to see how the cable is mounted. I also can't figure out how I take it off the lever at the other end of the cable. Any one able to help on this? I can post pics if needed. Also, is there a chance I can get a repair guide for this motor? Thanks.

Check this site for repair manuals. Get an OEM factory one.

Yes you need to get a manual, look on ebay for a omc manual for your motor.

There are two plastic tabs opposite each other that you slightly push in simultaneously on the grip. At the same time, thread the idle adjustment into the handle that is on the end of the grip. The grip then slides off. Here is a pic of your tiller.

Thanks for the info. Got the book ordered, 50 bucks and will take about a week to get here. Is there any way for my to find a part number for the throttle cable? I got it taken off thanks to your help! It just broke in half, kinda crazy.
