Evinrude 7.5, slightly strange model number

I am an outboard newbie. Just traded for Evinrude 7.5 w/ model number E8RTCA, but when I look up model numbers, and see that the TC means 1938, I think it MUST be backward and should be E8RCTA, a 1983 model. There's no way this motor can be 73 years old! Also, it doesn't have a kill switch, and I have yet to find the water intakes for the cooling system. Otherwise, I started it up today, everything great. Any insight on the model thing? Thanks!

Can't help you on your model # but if you ran it without water you'll probably need a new impellor. Outboards must have water to run.

The water intake is a screen underneath the backside of the anti-ventilation plate.

Thanks, I did see that screen and thought that's what it might be.
