1973 Johnson 115 throttle/shift cable ordering question

I need to order new throttle and shift cables for my 1973 115 hp johnson outboard. This is my first boat and I am on the learning curve. Do I order two of the same control cable or should there be a throttle cable and a shift cable? Searching through some of the parts dealers, all I see is the pre 79 control cable (400 series) but it does not differentiate between throttle and shift.

Also, my boat had 16ft cables, but using the Teleflex instructions of measuring the route and adding 4ft, I came up with 13ft. Is it possible they were just too long and worked anyway or should I go with the 13ft I got following the instructions.

Thanks in advance for any help.

The 16' cables seemed to fit ok. The motor wasn't on the boat when I bought it but the previous owner said they worked fine. There was just a lot of extra cable in the gas tank compartment. I'm sure it wasn't hurting anything.
