See OEM shop manual for sealing the case halves. Get a proper gasket for the reed block.

Don't use any type of sealer on reed plate gaskets or the intake manifold. For c/c halves without a gruve cut in them use Gel-Seal. If they have a gruve cut in them for a seal, use 3-M 847. Recommend getting an OEM service manual.

Actually you can still use Gel Seal even if the motor uses the spaghetti type rubber seal on the halves. If you want to use sealer on the reed and intake gaskets you can use a non-hardning type sealer.

If you put sealer on the intake gaskets you can clog up the re-cirt passages. They also told us in OMC service schools yrs ago not to use Gel-Seal when you had a spaghetti seal in the c/c halves.
