My Evinrude sounded a bit 'off' and died out last time I used it. I dug into it today and found what I think is the problem. A small hole in one of the carb fuel lines. I am pretty sure that's the only issue... but still, I this nagging feeling that maybe I am missing something... I'll pick up a new hose and give it a try. Here's a couple pictures of the bad hose right in front of the engine it came off of. I just hope I'm not missing anything..

I'd be "focusing" on the more obvious reasons for your problem too......:D

Lol.. Yes, there may just be a bit more wrong than the tiny hose hole.

I would love to know what caused the catastrophic failure. The heads and plugs looked VERY clean. Too clean really, the carbon I expected from an outboard with many many hours on it that was rarely run over 2800 rpm wasn't there. The plugs had almost zero oil residue. Guessing the oil was not being delivered. Finally got some return on that Boat Towing insurance!

There was no oil alarm etc..
