Hi ,i've just replaced the impeller on a 1970 evinrude sportwin 9.5hp model # 9022a for the first time. There was no gasket between the lower unit & the exhaust housing when i took them apart & i don't see one on the diagram i have. I know these diagrams are usually fairly accurate but i am a little concerned about bolting metal to metal without some sort of a seal between them. Can someone give me some advice on this before i tighten the bolts please...

I'm not one of the experts, but I can tell you with confidence there's no gasket needed. I'm thinking it's not needed because there's no fuel, oil or water reservoir there. I understand your concern though, it just feels wrong.

No gasket is required. Best of luck. Rick.
