I have a 2005 Johnson Bambardier 4 stroke 115hp. This boat is on a Crestliner 1750cmv bass fishing boat. I took the boat out last week and it started and ran fine. I was at full throttle for approx 1 mile before the overheat alarm went on and the engine bogged down. After putting the engine into neutral the engine shut off.
If I turn the engine off and turn it back on again it resets the alarm and the engine starts just fine. The problem is that at higher RPMs it continues to activate the alarm and do the same thing.
At lower RPMs the overheat light does not come on. It is only when I am running at higher RPMs that the engine light comes on and does what I said above. I can run long distances as long as I don't go above 3000 RPMs and the alarm doesn't go on.
I'm getting a good stream out the back of the engine so I don't think its the pump.
Anyone have any idea what might be causing this???
Thanks!
Mike
