I have a 1987 90 HP. Johnson V4. It is on a 17" Tracker DeepV aluminum boat. Can anyone give me some basic tuneup specs? Looking for timing settings, plug gap, location of #1 cylinder, timing marks, carb adjustments etc. Also would like to know which position the choke bypass (red lever) should be in for normal operation.... pointing toward the solenoid or turned away from the solenoid 90 degrees? Is there any adjustment to make on the VRO pump? I have a manual ordered but would like to get started with basics this weekend. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

Well, If your going to fiddle around with your out board, you really need a OMC service manual. It has everything you need to know in it.

Dont wast your money on any other manuals.

you can order a OMC manual for your motor here:
