Re: Head Torque Specs 1959 Evinrude Lark 35 35516

Welcome to the iboats.com forum. The experts here, which I am not, can help you with any problem. My manual says 216-240 INCH-POUNDS, not foot-pounds. However, it must be done in the proper sequence and I cannot find that info for your motor. Hopefully, one of the forum experts will jump in and post that also. Good luck with that great old motor!

EDIT: Found the cylinder head torquing sequence for your motor. Will try to post a link with a diagram but for now, here's my best shot at a graphic. FYI, dashes (-) are just for spacing.

07--8
3----4
02--1
6----5
10--9

Start at 1, move in numerical order, tightening each bolt consecutively with no skips. Some recommend initially tightening to 50% of max, then going around again at 100%. OMC says to "re-torque cylinder head screws after running at normal operating temperature and the motor has cooled". Some recommend re-torquing again after ten hours of running.
