Hi

Iam currently installing a crank shaft on 1979 55hp evinrude block.

The manual shows a o ring underneath the top bearing. However the oring that the manual calls for seems to be to big to on the crank in that area under the top bearing.

My thoughts were that this O ring on the crank shaft is an after thought or belongs to another model?

Is there any orings at all on the crankshaft?

Thanks

Colin

The parts breakdown shows an o-ring (PN 313754 ) on the upper crank bearing.

Hi Daviet

Yes I have o-ring PN 313754 but the O ring is an inche to big for that portion of the crank bearing?

Could this O-ring be not needed?
Any thoughts ?

Thanks

Check with the dealer you bought it from, maybe it is mismarked.
Is there a grove in the block that the o-ring might fit in and the bearing slides through it.
I don't have a manual in front of me to check it out for you, I am sure someone will chime in and help you out.

I am pretty sure the only o-ring involved up there goes around the upper main bearing. Snug, but not tight fit. It seats in a groove in the crankcase...
