I recently acquired a 1957 Johnson 18HP motor model FD-11 from a search and rescue team. The team trashed the boat it was on as well as the gas tank that was used with it. I have a new single line gas tank from another motor, but need to know how to get the old motor to work with the new tank. Step by step instructions would be helpful. Thanks.

You can do a search and find a really nice thread on this exact subject. THere is also a place to buy an intake bypass cover that is fixed up so as to accept a modern OMC fuel pump just like the newer motors and that is the easiest and best way to go. If you're truly interested in buying one, say so and I'll direct you to the source. It's very reasonably priced.
Good luck,
JBJ
