I have been chasing what I thought was an overheating problem that initiated this SLOW feature when I tried to go to WOT. After looking at the wiring diagram I'm not too sure the 88 SPL has the SLOW feature since the tan wire from the temperature switches does not connect with the power pack. Am I correct?

You are correct as far as I know the 88 hp crossflow motor does not have a SLOW system only the loopers that year. You should have one sensor in each head. If your overheating check the thermostats first they are at the bottom of the motor in the rear. Second if it is overheating at WOT then it may be the water deflectors in the head or the bypass valves in the thermostat block.

Thanks for quick confirmation. I did replace everything in the cooling system including the deflectors. It in fact it may not be overheating as I suspected. My foolish mistake for not being sure that it was overheating. Now have a Markal stik to confirm.
