I'm rebuilding the carbs on a '95 112 SPL after some rough mid-rpm running. On disassembly, both carbs had the float springs sitting on the bottom of the bowl. I'm not sure how to install the new ones? One end obviously clips onto the float pin, but I'm not sure of the proper orientation? Is the spring supposed to help push the float down to open the needle valve or help push the float up to help close it? I don't want to make the same mistake as whoever rebuilt these before and have them fall off. Thanks!

I believe that clip just hooks on the needle valve and holds it to the float so the needle will get pulled down when the float opens.

Click the thumbnail. The clip gives the float greater control over the needle.
