Water leak Johnson 96 112 Special

I have noticed water leaking under the bottom of the cyliner, not out of the cyliner but underneath, does anyone know the what problem im having and how to fix it, it is not effecting starting or timing but it shouldnt be there either

Possible the base gasket is in the process of failing. That's the gasket between the midsection adapter and the bottom of the powerhead. You can get water out of that joint, and often minor amounts of exhaust gas. Usually it does not affect running. If you are getting exhaust gas into the cowling, it will get sucked back into the airbox, carbs when running-best to repair it. Not a hard job to replace, but plan on 3 hours of your time.
