1973 18 HP Evinrude Part Identification

There is a very short pin sticking through the side of the foot on the starboard side. Oil is seeping out of here, not much, but seeping none the less. I have looked at the shop manual, parts list and all the schematics and cannot identify what this part is. Is this a problem and if it is what would be the best way to fix it? It does'nt do anything. It may be a holding point in manufacture such as machineing, or a casting point. It should not leak. Should be able to repair it with marine-tex.

Yes marine tex will work..... do not be shy....lightly sand to bare aluminum and use epoxy or marine tex...... lay the motor down so there is no oil dripping.

It might have been some sort as a guide pin for a steering set up...... go ahead and plug it.
