New guy here so I hope I posted in the right forum....

I'll get to the point.. Took the boat out last weekend noticed it seemed to be runing a little rough, having idle issues figured I'd get on it to clean it out because we had been putting around all day so opened it up and about 3 min later I heard the motor start to sound like it was about to go so I just killed it. Got towed in... Pulled the port side head off because I noticed the top cyl had no comp and this is what I found...

It's a 1999 Johnson 130 2-stroke V-4 omc

Now this is the 2nd year to own this boat we took it out about 5 times last year and never had a issue. This was the 2nd time out this year. I'm no tech but It looks like someone had been inside the motor before and all the pitting in the head does that mean saltwater? As the owner before me told me it has never been any, and I never have put it in any...

I figured the top cyl got leaned out and burned it up?

Ball park figure what would I be looking at to fix this?

Thanks, Shane

Neither one looks burned; some carbon build-up. Pitting looks like damage from metal flying around. Is that rust in the pictures?

No rust... It's just a orange color on the side of the piston...
Seems someone has replaced 3 out of the 4 pistons and rings.. Why I have no idea why not replace all 4?

Sent it to the boat shop waiting for there call on if it can be fixed or if I have to buy a new powerhead... As for what happened I think the carb leaned out and toasted the rings.. As for the piting I pulled the other head off and its the same way. Wierd...
