water pump repair help for newbie

I am trying to change out waterpump impeller on 1988 ( i think ) johnson 110 vro outboard. model is J11OTLCU

I loosened the 5 bolts on the foot, but did not remove them fully. The foot dropped down about an 1/8th of an inch.

I read there is a linkage rod / nut something that has to be dealt with but I don't know where to look for it. Also, before I take the 5 bolts out, do I need to support under the foot? Do I need to drain the oil? Do I need to remove the propeller?

Please give me some advice. Thanks.

Bolt under trim tab. Mark trim tab so that it will be reinstalled in same exact position.

Shift connector..... 3/8" shoulder type hex bolt (with screwdriver slot in it) under bottom carburetor
