Without the trim cylinder you would be able to tilt up and down at under 1600 RPM. You will need to have your thrust rod set at the optimum position for cruising, but you would want that anyway.

BTW, the o-ring kit for the trim cylinder, part #172575 superseded to 0174520.

that's a great piece of info. we've got it taken apart....all kinds of garbage in there. think we'll get it back together ok.

if you live in a town big enough to have a hydraulics shop then go by and ask them if they would sell you a quart of good hydraulic oil. Bring your own container because I think all they sell is 5 and 55 gallon containers. But they should have an open barrel in the back for their own repairs and might sell you a quart. That's as good as it gets. Hydraulic oil doesn't double as motor oil or other fluid. It is engineered specifically for hydraulics and will maximize the lifespan of your system.
