Replaced power pack now motor starts wont shut off

hi just replaced,power pack motor started but now wont shut off,i have 1976 johnson 85hp,,,,i tried everything from upgrading to a 6 pole ignition with the push choke method elimanated the old toggle choke,i have no clue whats going on the new ignition doesnt have a lanyard or any other type of switch ,,,,does it need 1,or is it just a wire issue im stumped ,THANX Bob:confused:

Your motor is shut off by grounding the black/yellow wire coming from the power pack. That wire goes to a terminal marked "M" on the switch. There is another "M" terminal on the switch that goes to ground. You can check it with an ohm meter. With the key off you should read continuity from the black/yellow wire at the power pack to ground. If you do then the power pack is bad.
