I'm trying to convert my motor to a long shaft, and with looking at the parts I need, i've had some people telling me that there is no 5 inch extension for the shift shaft, but that i have to completely pull the powerhead in order to install a once piece longer shift shaft.

Is there a 5 inch extension for the shift shaft that is available? or am i stuck having to pull the powerhead in order to install a new, longer one?

Re: short shaft to long shaft conversion

You will need the 5" extension to the gearcase and associated bits and pieces. The 5" longer drive shaft the 5" longer water tube and the 5" longer upper shift rod.

There appears to be complete kit part number 396707 for $432

Individually some of the parts are listed as "limited availablity"
