johnson 9.9 outboard what year

my friend has a johnson outboard 9.9 that he bought three years ago . hebought it from a fellow boater who has a gradywhite , this outboard was just hanging from his transom never used it. need to know what year is this.

J= Johnson, 10 = 9.9, R= ropestart, L= longshaft
SS = 00 therefore a year 2000 model
