Hello all,

I am new to Iboats and im finding out its a very helpful and informative site.

I have a quick simple question I was hoping to get answered. I just recently bought a 56 Evinrude 5.5 hp fisherman. The compression seems great, and fires right up with some starting fluid. I am new however to the 2-line/pressurized fuel tank design, and I am without the proper hose. I have a pressurized can with the 2-line fitting, and I am wondering If I can run down to the local hardware store and buy some fuel hose to do the trick? What size is the OEM 2-line hose?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Hi, Justin, OMC sells a special fuel line which has both the pressure hose and fuel hose molded together. You may be able to find a Johnson/Evinrude dlr who will sell you 6' or so of the hose, otherwise the factory sells them in 50' rolls!

Maxrules sells the stuff for $4/ft check it out here:

If I recall the stuff is something like 5/16" but the best way to match it up at a local auto parts store would be to take the fuel fitting with you.

You can of course use (2) separate lines, it just won't look as nice cosmetically and might tend to get tangled, unless you tie-wrap them or otherwise 'serve' the hoses.. But they will certainly pass fuel and air no problem!

Here's an old iBoats posting I found with good discussion on these fuel hoses:

And another informative link with info on how to convert your motor to a more modern single-line fuel system with fuel pump:
