Guys, do I really need the primer solenoid? I broke the fuel line nipple and can't fix it. I capped off the fuel lines to and from this thing and the motor starts and runs fine. I've never had to use the primer before, even when the motor was cold, because it would actually take longer to start then if I started without priming.

A new unit cost $140 and I really don't want to spend the money. Any thoughts?

They sell a rebuild kit for it here on iBoats.

If you get stuck with it, you could spray fuel into the carb throats, they like to start wet. Don't know why yours starts so easy, it usually needs a good prime to fire up.

Yes I've been told that before, it's always started right up with no prime. If I prime it the motor starts very hard, a few times it would flood when primed and not start at all.
