I'm getting ready to rebuild the carbs on my old Evinrude (70773s) and am in the process of making out my parts list and have a question. In the manual it says you need to replace the self locking screws that hold the air silencer base to the carbs (0323044 ? SCREW,BASE TO CARBURETOR (9 per engine) (side note the website says 9 per engine but the oem manual says 6) but is it really necessary to replace them or can they be reused? The only reason I ask is that they are very expensive, $7.50 each for a total of $45 for six screws and my parts bill is threatening to grow beyond my current budget... If they must be replaced then so be it but I thought it was at least worth checking first... Thanks.
