The shaft and the flywheel both look good. (see images below)
When you say "lap" what do you mean?

Ok, this is the shaft with the new key placed in. (tight, and not been taped into place. See the amount of space above?)

OK checked the lower unit oil again today. (after it had been sitting a couple days... Turned out it was a little low. (about 12-15 pumps to get it shooting out)

Prop rod still spins ok, and I pumped oil through until about a quart ran through to see if there was anything "not right" in the oil. Seemed fine.

It was in gear for all of about 10 sec. God I hope it's fine.

OK, went back to service center, and they confirmed it was the right one.
But could not compare it to another one because I had purchased the last one.

So I came home, after having a tech tell me. "yeap that's it"

put the key in, taped in place, put fly wheel on (at 105 ft lbs), put on muffs,
gave it a few cranks. Motor did nothing, and looks like the key sheared again...

ok, now fly wheel does not want to come off. (fun, will have to get a fly wheel puller for that)

Give us a hint of help please....
