2002 Johnson 150 trim problems

My 150 trim always works going up but is sporadic with the down switch. Is that a relay problem or wiring.

fluid, or joints in need of grease.

hydraulic problems would be more evident going up, when travelling down gravity will smooth out the jerkiness to a point.
And if its sticky pivots that will show up when travelling downwards.

If lubricating don't fix it...
Try swapping the relays around, if it is the relay the problem will follow it.
