I need to test my timer base on my 1980 e70elcrd outboard. I have replaced the flywheel, stator, and powerpack. I still get intermediate spark. Sometimes it will fire all three sometimes one sometimes none. How do I check the timer base or is there anything I may be overlooking? Thanks guys

Have you done a compression test? That's number one. Assuming that's done- it doesn't sound like a timing issue. Either your trigger is out or the coils are shot. I suppose I'd look over the system and assure all is tight/no spark leakage etc.

As for timing; you'll have a primary setting and a secondary setting (at WOT) Look up the ignition timing that it should be set at and do the sync and link.
