Hi all,

Just bought my first boat, a 1979 Sea Nymph 12-ft aluminum V-hull with a 1981 9.9hp Johnson 2-stroke. It runs fine, but I think it's running rich (smoky, and previous owner said he put some extra oil in the mixture) and the plugs are oily, so I'm gonna replace them, mix new gas, and cross my fingers that there's nothing else wrong with it. Does anyone know the correct plug gap, or do I even have to gap a 2-stroke spark plug?

I've never worked on a 2-stroke marine engine before, just cars, and any help is greatly appreciated. Is there anything I should check/replace to make sure it continues to run well and won't leave me stranded? As far as I know, it's in decent shape except for sitting during the winter...

Sorry for the long-winded post, and thanks in advance for the help...
