Evinrude E-tec?

Looking at a boat to buy and clean and resell. It has a 2005 90 hp Evinrude E-tec. I heard they have problems with E-tec's. and If I resell it I want it to be perfect. Does anybody have any opinion or experiance with them?

I like the Etec, especially the light weight.

Everthing has problems if maintenance is neglected. Ask for service history. Water test.

There won't be a lot of maint. records for that E-Tec. There's a 3 year maint. interval (and no break in). I love mine.

Don't know much bout em myself,they are quiet and light.other than that i saw 5 boats last summer that had e-tecs that where pattling to the public dock and personally towed 1 down river for about 5 miles,guy said he hit a log or something and the motor just quite and wouldn't start again.It would turn over but wouldn't start.Just doesn't seem to be very good odds to see 5 of em in less than 6 months time broken down.i guess as long as it's under warranty really doesn't matter cept if it spoils a fishin trip or somethin.
