48 hp johnson?

Any one got 1 of these? I purchased a used 16 lund for fishing and it has a 48 hp johnson on it. I never seen 1 before! The man said it came new on the boat and was some kind of special that year. Can anyone shine any light on this, is it just a 50 hp or what. I dont plan on useing it it as the lake i fish on is 20 hp limit, but it runs like new and if I want to sell it I want to be able to tell the buyer something about it. It a 1997,

1996 was last year of 48hp and it is just a 50hp without VRO. 1993-98 40/48/50 hp are the same except the 40 has a smaller carb

it is a great motor. easy to work on. powerful, and dependable. the 48 has been around since the early 80's.

Professional users prefer the "Keep It Simple" idea.They prefer self mixing to possible break down of a VRO.
