fuel mixture 1964

what is the fuel mixture for a 1964 18HP Evinrude the book I believe says a 30weight motor oil, but can I use my 50:1 pre mix that I have for all my other engines, that is gas and 2 stroke oil. Thanks Bob

I think 50:1 is too lean for that age of engine.
I posted the same question about using 32:1 and was informed that maybe 32:1 is too lean.

Therfore i am going back to 25:1 as to the info that all the people on this site have suggested.

My outboards are a pair of 1961 Johnson 18 HP

I think the '64 and newer motors took 50/1. Someone will chime in on this.

It's 50:1, 64 was the first year they went with that mixture but there is nothing stopping you from running more oil in it, 40:1 will work too.

1964 is the model year when the OMC publications stated that after break-in 50: 1 would be used in all 1964 model recreational outboard engines. BRP Evinrude reaffirms: http://www.evinrude.com/en-US/About.Us/FAQ/Oil.Fuel.htm#Q2

My Manual for 30-40 hp Evinrudes 1956-64 models says a 24:1 mix use Outboard Motor Oil or a Type MM-SAE-30 may be substituted.

Hey wooden, that picture you just posted says 1/6 pint per gallon (50:1) for 1964.

so guys I guess 50:1 of TWC3 will work with no problem in my 18HP 1964 Evinrude or do I need that MM 30 wieght @ 50:1 Thanks Bob

Well, you guys are as bad as my wife, always pointing out my mistakes!!!! LOL I stand CORRECTED!!!!! AGAIN!!!!!!!!!! 50:1 it is. I CAN read, just not as good as I used. to. Oh well you can't be right all the time, you're wife would'nt have anything to complain about. Thanks for the CATCH!
